Located in the Green River Valley, Auburn is a city of 70,000, making it the fourteenth largest city in Washington. Its strategic location between Seattle and Tacoma make Auburn such a great place to live and work. Auburn is only a 30-minute drive from Seattle, so getting to historic places such as Pike Place Market or the Seattle Art Museum is easy. Auburn is also only 20 minutes away from Tacoma, making it a quick trip to enjoy the Tacoma Chihully Museum of Glass or America’s Car Museum.

Things to Do in Auburn, WA

Auburn has an extensive park system, with 28 developed parks and over 23 miles of trails, which includes a 4.5-mile portion of the Interurban Trail that accommodates bikers, runners, and walkers. Auburn also has almost 247 acres of open space for additional outdoor recreation.

Auburn is only an hour away from Mt. Rainier, which includes Crystal Mountain and the Snoqualmie Ski Area, making it a convenient getaway for wintertime activities.

If golfing is your thing, Auburn has two golf courses to choose from including Washington National Golf Club, and Auburn Golf Course.

Fun Fact:

Auburn was originally known as Slaughter, Washington after Lt. William Slaughter, who died in a battle with Native Americans in 1855. Visitors to the city would stay at the main hotel called the “Slaughter House.” Thankfully, the city changed its name in 1893 to Auburn.
